BORN in Newbury, Schooled at Prior’s Court and Abingdon Schools, Ben then spent his gap year as a student master at Cheam School. As Organ Scholar at the College of St. Hild and St. Bede, Durham University since October 2001 he has travelled widely with the Chapel Choir directing or accompanying at Ripon, Chester, Durham Cathedrals and Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin. This June Ben will take the Choir on tour to the South, singing at Southwark, St. Alban’s, Chichester and Portsmouth Cathedrals. While at Durham Ben spent a year a conductor of the University Hill Orchestra and will finish reading for a BA in music this summer. Having studied the Organ with James Millard at Abingdon School, David Bishop, Keith Wright (Sub-Organist, Durham Cathedral) and presently with James Lancelot (Organist, Durham Cathedral) Ben will play today’s recital programme again on the 2nd June, at Durham Cathedral, for his finals recital. In the University vacations, Ben works as Organist at St. John’s Church, Newbury. April 2003 |
