Jenny Broome studied the harp with Daphne Boden and later with Renata Scheffel-Stein while reading Architecture at Cambridge University. After some years as an architect, Jenny returned to the harp in 1993 and now has a busy freelance career. She plays orchestral and chamber music, especially with her group Trio Sospiroso (flute, viola and harp). She has given performances of Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto, Debussy’s Danses Sacrée et Profane, Ginastera’s Concerto and Frank Martin’s Petite Symphonie Concertante. Jenny plays freelance for many orchestras in the south of England. She is the regular harpist for Stowe Opera, and has played for the Royal Shakespeare Company. She has made recordings of music by Paul Carr for Claudio Records and of Francis Grier’s new oratorio ‘Around the Curve of the World’ for Somm as well as Britten’s Ceremony of Carols. Her work with singers has included several solo song recitals and performances with choirs including a broadcast on Radio 4. Future plans include performances of The Ceremony of Carols, the Ginastera Concerto and a recital at South Hill Park. February 2004 |
