CLIVE
GRANT started organ lessons at the age of 14 with Dr. Alan Wicks at
Canterbury Cathedral. Whilst reading music at Cambridge he continued
his studies with Gerald Gifford, at that time Assistant Organist at
Ely Cathedral and later professor of organ at the Royal College of
Music, and Peter Hurford.
He gained his ARCM Organ Performing Diploma
in 1979 and has given numerous recitals in this country, including
Canterbury, Llandaff, Exeter and Chichester Cathedrals, and whilst an
undergraduate was Assistant Organist at the University Church,
Cambridge.
After graduating he stayed in Cambridge to
complete his post graduate studies and to concentrate on his
harpsichord, organ, piano accompaniment and voice studies, attending
master classes in London and Paris. He is presently employed as Head
of Music at St. Bartholomew's School Newbury, and regularly coaches
the Berkshire Boys Choir and Berkshire Youth Choir, accompanying
them on their recent European tours to Belgium, Italy, Germany and
the Czech Republic. He is regularly invited to coach and accompany
county junior and senior opera courses, and has worked with
directors from the National Opera and Covent Garden. He has also
appeared with the Berkshire Boys Choir on Classic FM. He is also
musical director of Watership Cantabile.
