HILARY SMETHURST-EVANS took up the saxophone at the age of nine and quickly progressed into the Berkshire Youth Wind Orchestra, which performed in the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and toured Czechoslovakia and Hungary. She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree and a LGSMD performance diploma. She has recently completed her Post-Graduate Diploma in Music Performance with Simon Haram. Recitals have included the Guildhall and St. Martins within Ludgate, plus many performances with "Sax Discrimination". Hilary plans to continue teaching for the Berkshire Young Musicians Trust and Enfield Arts Support Services whilst studying for the Associated Board’s Certificate of Teaching. SIU CHUI LI started to learn the piano at the age of seven with Alice Davis before taking up the ‘cello when she reached fourteen. With the latter instrument she played in county youth and chamber orchestras but decided to specialize in piano at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, having won a Junior Exhibition scholarship there. In 1994 she gained a place at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and studying with Joan Havill, won the school Piano Prize there. She graduated in 1998 and spent the next year teaching privately and accompanying various soloists including Hilary Smethurst-Evans. Last summer she attended the Paxos Chamber Music Festival in Greece and in September she began a Post-Graduate year in Ensemble and Accompaniment with Andrew Ball at the Royal College of Music, London.
