A pupil of Andover Grammar School, Michael was David Reynolds’ first organ pupil in 1965 at Whitchurch, Michael trained as a chemist at Imperial College, London and then became a teacher in 1975, teaching science at Hardley School, Totton. Currently he teaches chemistry and music at Ballard School, New Milton.

He came with David Reynolds as an assistant at St. Nicolas from 1969 to 1971 and then became organist at All Hallows, Whitchurch from 1972 to 1975. From 1975 to the present he has been organist at Hythe Parish Church, Hampshire
